What is Probus?

The term PROBUS derives from the words PROfessional and BUSiness (despite the rumours, it definitely does NOT stand for PRostate out Other Bits Under Surveillance).

However, membership is not restricted to these two groups.  It also embraces former executives of Government and other organisations, in fact anyone who has held a position of responsibility during their working life.  More information on the history of Probus and worldwide contact details can be found in the website www.probus.org

The website www.probusworld.com describes how Probus was introduced into the UK by the late Ralph Harper in 1970, since when they have grown to become a huge success.  Probus clubs provide an opportunity for the retired and semi-retired to socialise with like-minded people and enjoy the camaraderie that belonging to this organisation can bring.
